As part of this post’s joint celebration of International Labor Day and the 42nd Anniversary of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the MWO-Osaka conducted a lecture/demonstration/workshop on Ikebana, the art of Japanese Flowe Arrangement for the Filipino community and OFWs on 5 May 2024 at the 4th Floor of the Sacra Famiglia Umeda Church in Osaka City from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The activity was conducted in a middle of a long vacation (Golden Week) in Japan. Despite this, a total of thirty (30) pre-identified participants cut short their vacation and attended the activity. Sensei Toshiyuki Tanaka, who has a 25 years of teaching Ikebana, was the resource speaker. So as to be able to conduct individual coaching and critiquing of flower arrangement, Sensei Tanaka advised that the number of participants should not exceed 30.
During the opening program, the video messages of the DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac (International Labor Day) and of the OWWA Administrator Arnaldo Ignacio (Anniversary Message) were played.
The participants were all very happy with the activity and requested MWO-Osaka to conduct more activity of this kind. A fellowship and refreshments followed after the activity.
