ADVISORY NO. 14, s of 2024

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, temperatures will continue to rise in western Japan on the 8th. The daytime highs are expected to be 39 degrees in Yamaguchi City, Kurume City in Fukuoka Prefecture, Hita City in Oita Prefecture, and Saga City. Additionally, temperatures are expected to reach 38 degrees in Nagoya City, Totsukawa Village, Kazeya in Nara Prefecture, Kumamoto City, Hitoyoshi City in Kumamoto Prefecture, and Takamatsu City; 37 degrees in Kyoto City and Matsuyama City; 36 degrees in Kofu City and Hiroshima City; and 35 degrees in Kobe City. The Japan Meteorological Agency and the Ministry of Environment have issued a “heatstroke alert” for 25 prefectures, citing an extremely high risk of heatstroke.

Meanwhile, rising temperatures and warm air are creating very unstable atmospheric conditions, particularly in the Tohoku and Kanto-Koshin regions, with a risk of very heavy rain accompanied by localized thunderstorms. The amount of rainfall in the 24 hours until the morning of the 9th is expected to reach as much as 80mm in Tohoku and Kanto-Koshin at its heaviest. It is important to be vigilant against landslides, flooding of low-lying areas and river flooding, as well as lightning strikes, strong gusts of wind such as tornadoes, and hail.

We advise all Supervising Organizations, Implementing Organizations/Accepting Organizations, and principals to monitor the safety of Filipino workers and report any incidents caused by the extreme weather forecast through MWO-Osaka email addresses at mwo_osaka@dmw.gov.ph and mwoosaka.welfare@gmail.com. Filipino workers are encouraged to take necessary precautions and prioritize their safety.

Thank you for your cooperation.
